Skill v/s Art
Why can people be found categorizing or demoralizing the definition of "ART" ? Art consists of soul, pouring of dedication and devotion but it has been "minor" always. When Arjuna plays "veena"; one of the sweetest and melodious instruments, or gets absorbed in music, people could have raised interpretation but they have never been so sensible in literary interset . Karna comments on his playing with his narrow claiming that Arjuna will do anything for women's entertainment. He believes that one great warrier , who is endowed with accomplishments, his praise , his admiration, his recognition or attention is his skill. Isn't it really? The way he lives or becomes endowed or worth doesn't matter!
Neither of the characters in Mahabharata is complete! Incompleteness in man's being is reality. Arjun and karna- a pair gives notion of life! Their characterizations show conflict between " SKILL " and "ART". It is about life v/s art or skill v/s life. "SKILL" a bit sounds negative. The word can be spoken as satire on someone while claiming one's skill. But what is art? Art consists of individualism as well as universalism . Art becomes identity of one's individuality or characteristic but it also includes " a whole thing " ! It makes one complete. It leads one to reformation and discernment , morality or realization , sensation of genuinity by autonomous process as well as eternal touch . Skill is a different thing. "ART" is all what lies in '' liveliness" or "livelihood". It is free from " worse" . Karna was not that artist but what he had endowed is "skill".
Knowledge either leads one to injustice. No matter if that person has come out from injustice who has got strength to battle out with "injustice" . So it is expected from him to understand the burden of " injustice". But how it feels, when that person , who knows "injustice" does injustice to others with the notion of rivalries or blind adherence to own drawbacks? Don't let injustice; that has been done to you, accompany falsehood. It makes one lose his true insight. It is the character of Karna. His greatness is nothing less than his loss of discernment. His claiming to blind religion and and its reforms or his protest seem degrading with his comment on Arjuna's art of playing Veena . He doesn't believe in casteism and distinction but decreases art. Once he seems to believe himself abberant compared to great people of other narratives . Any society lacks a true determination and judgement. It has always been lacking and consists of wrongdoing. This is the reason! Judgement doesn't redeem the person but it leads to abomination or temptation. Sometimes, it can be called lack of "explanation". None gives attention on Karna's worse comment or why Arjuna becomes annoyed and agitated or what is the " origin" from which sin or crime has taken place. One can be taken in " framework", not with single event. With his blind devotion to Kauravas, he never attempts to discern them. The way he goes on demoralizing others, it feels whatever he has done is his " selfishness" !
